Trend alert: Wrap skirts

Hace unas semanas comencé a ver que un nuevo tipo de falda envolvente aparecía cada vez más en ciertos blogs y páginas de internet.  Pero no es la típica falda envolvente fluida y larga, esta vez se trata de una falda corta, con estructura marcada y en varios casos mostrando asimetría en la parte frontal.

Parece que este tipo de falda estará bastante presente en la temporada primavera-verano.  Aquí pueden ver a Aimee Song usando una falda envolvente en el #BloggerBazaar en Los Angeles (más fotos del evento en este post).

Haciendo mi research, al parecer fue una pieza vista en el street style del New York Fashion Week en setiembre del 2012 y la pasarela de Proenza Schouler para la temporada de otoño 2012 mostró bastante este tipo de falda. 

En un inicio cuando vi algunos modelos no me terminaron de gustar, pero luego investigando un poco vi que había mucho más modelos y cortes y algunas me parecieron muy bonitas.  Lo genial es que he visto faldas con colores más invernales que tranquilamente se pueden usar en los países que están entrando al otoño-invierno también.

Me ha gustado tanto que estoy pensando seriamente en alterar alguno de los moldes que tengo de faldas rectas y hacerme una falda envolvente asimétrica.  Veremos si me gana la flojera, mi pobre máquina de coser ha estado un poco abandonada y mi lista de proyectos sigue creciendo :p

Since some weeks ago, I have been seeing wrap skirts more and more on blogs and fashion sites.  It seems that it's a trend that is getting stronger for this spring-summer season.  

This is a new version of the old fluid wrap skirt, now featured in fabrics that give a bold structure, an asymmetrical finish in the front and shorter than before.

When I saw the first wrap skirts, I wasn’t too convinced about it.  But after doing some research I found some structured wrap skirts that I really liked.  And although is kind of getting stronger now (or at least that’s what it seems like), the runway show from Proenza Schouler AW 2013 had some of these beauties.

Now, I love it so much that I might make some alterations to a skirt pattern I have and make one of my own.  But there’s some retailers already selling them.
