How to mix and match rose gold jewelry? [¿Cómo combinar accesorios de oro rosado?]

Este post viene a pedido de una amiga y lectora :)  Ella se compró hace poco varios accesorios de oro rosado y a pesar de que le encantan, todavía no ha encontrado cómo ponérselos.  Pero no es la primera vez que escucho a alguien le pasa algo parecido.  Así que me puse a investigar, probar y preguntar, y espero que este post sirva como una pequeña guía para que puedan usar más oro rosado, que es tan lindo y femenino.

Creo que en general estamos acostumbrados al tono plateado y al dorado y siendo ambos bastante neutrales, podemos combinarlos a nuestro antojo, lo que los hace prácticos y fáciles de llevar.  En el caso del oro rosado, no resulta tan fácil.  Pero creo que todo es cuestión de costumbre (visual).  Lo otro es que también se acostumbra que si llevas joyas de un tono, todo normalmente está en el mismo tono y no necesariamente tiene que ser así siempre.

Creo que estamos en un tiempo en el que todo vale, no hay reglas que se puedan romper y todo es cuestión de creatividad y experimentar.  Pero si se trata de probar por primera vez combinaciones con oro rosado, de hecho queremos alguna guía básica.  Así que empecemos.

This post comes as a request from a friend and reader.  She bought some rose gold jewelry and wasn't sure how to use it.  But it is not the first time I hear someone having that problem.  So I decided to research, try and ask around and write this post as a little guide to wear more rose gold, which is so pretty and feminine.

I think in general we are really used to wear silver and gold and since they are neutral we can combine them easily.  Since the rose gold is not that common, it seems that is not that easy to match.  But it's just a matter of trying and experimenting a little.  On the other hand, sometimes we feel the urge to match all the jewelry we wear and not necessarily has to be like that.

We are in a time where there are no fashion rules that cannot be broken, we can express all our creativity and experiment.  But if you are trying the first time with rose gold, for sure is good to have some little tips to use.  So, lets get started.

El oro rosado y su paleta de colores [Rose gold and it's pallet tones]

Este es un pequeño truco que los ayudará a combinar el oro rosado con sus prendas.  El oro rosado es de la misma familia de todos los tonos que ven aquí y tonos similares.  Como tal, pueden combinarlo con todos estos tonos y otros colores que normalmente combinarían con ellos. Abajo verán algunos ejemplos.

This is a little trick that will help you combine your rose gold with your clothes.  The rose gold is from the same family as all this tones below and similar ones.  So basically you can combine it with tones of the same family and tones that will usually combine with this colors.  And since it's a metalic, the range of combination increases.  Below you will find some examples.

Oro rosado y colores tierra [Rose Gold and earthy tones]

Esta combinación es quizás la que resulte más obvia y fácil (después de la combinación con ropa blanca o negra).  El oro rosado acompaña muy bien a los colores tierra, ya que es un tono cálido como ellos.  Mi combinación favorita de estos colores sería con crema o verde olivo, dos colores que me encantan de por sí.

This probably is the most obvious or easy (besides combining it with black or white).  The rose gold matches really nicely with all the earthy tones, because it's a warm tone as well.  My favorite options would be combining it with cream or olive, two colors that I looove.

Oro rosado y estampados [Rose gold and prints]

Aquí es donde la cosa se vuelve divertida.  Basta que nuestra prenda tenga un tono de la gama que vimos arriba o parecida, para que el oro rosado no solo quede bien, sino que resalte y se vea hermoso.  A pesar de que la imagen solo muestra shorts, es aplicable a cualquier prenda.

Here is where this starts to be more fun.  You only need to make sure that any print you use has at least one of the tones that I showed on the top, for making the rose gold shine and look beautiful combined with prints.  Even though I show only bottoms here, it's applicable to tops as well.

Oro rosado y colores fríos y otros colores  [Rose Gold and cold colors and other colors]

Y si pensaron que el oro rosado no se podía combinar mucho más, en la imagen que les presento pueden ver que en verdad es cuestión de experimentar y se ve bien con muchos colores.

And if you thought that rose gold jewelry could not be combine with even more colors, as this image shows, it's a matter of trying it, you will see it actually looks good with a lot more colors than we ever thought.

Ahora que ya vimos como podemos combinar oro rosado con nuestra ropa, queda la pregunta, y cómo combino el oro rosado con el resto de mis accesorios.  Si bien es cierto que sería ideal tener varios accesorios en oro rosado para hacer un look solo con este tono, no siempre sucede así.  Así que si solo tienes uno dos accesorios en este tono, pueden sin problemas combinarlos con tus accesorios en tonos dorados o plateados, o aplicando la misma regla de la paleta de colores, con joyería de colores similares: rosados suaves, blush, crema, y hasta colores pasteles.  Sino, siempre pueden hacer un mix de todo.   De todos modos, si les pasa que un día les regalan una sola pieza en oro rosado, podría ser bueno invertir en al menos una pieza más para combinar, sean aretes, pulsera, un anillo o collar, algo que pueda hacer el match.

So we have already seen how we can combine rose gold with many different solid colors and prints, now, what happens with other tones of jewelry like silver or gold?  It's true that in the perfect situation we would have at least a little set of rose gold jewelry to combine one whole outfit with only this tone, but not necessarily is going to be the situation.  So what to do when you only have one piece in this tone?  The solution would be to mix it with silver and/or gold or with jewelry in soft coral or pink tones, cream or blush jewelry, natural color pearls or pastel colors.  If you don't want to mix jewelry tones, my suggestion would be to invest in at least one more piece to match.  For example, if you have a rose gold watch, you could buy some earrings or a necklace.
